St. Anton Catholic Church was constructed in1927 by Karl Moser, 1860-1936. Moser, professor of architecture at the University of Zurich, designed several modern churches in Switzerland and influenced the best architects of the next generation. The 180 foot tower looms above the trees.
The massive structure is composed of reinforced concrete and walls of glass, which extend several stories. A cross tops the tower also constructed of glass and concrete.
The180 foot tower looms over the cars and pedestrians on the street. Glass, steel and concrete form the exterior walls.
Line drawing of the arched reinforced concrete ceiling in center of church; flat ceiling over the side aisles. The arched ceiling is reminiscent of August Perret's churches.
View looking toward church entrance and the pipe organ. Carved lectern placed mid-way along the side of the church. The ceiling is supported by square concrete pillars equally spaced along the nave.
